The disruption of the sowing campaign in Ukraine and the suspension of grain supplies from the Russian Federation will further increase food prices. The share of Ukraine in world supplies of wheat is 10%, and in grain exports – 15%. Russia leads in the supply of grain and corn. The article notes that the sharp rise in prices will significantly exacerbate the problem of food shortages in Africa and the Middle East, where many families are already starving. Experts from the UN World Food Program call for immediate action to prevent a worsening food shortage.
