Wall Street plunges as virus concerns reemerge
Wall Street had seen a dampened performance on Thursday. This could be attributed to an increase in coronavirus infections in the United States, with investors adjusting their confidence in line with the expected rollout of a vaccine.
Unofficial records showed that all of Wall Street’s major indexes plunged. The Dow Jones dropped 1.08%, while the S&P 500 declined 1.00%. The tech-reliant Nasdaq tallied a 0.65% drop.
Moreover, economically sensitive industrial and financial companies weighed on the blue-chip Dow, with Boeing Co BA.N recording a 3% decline. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs was seen 1.6% weaker.
After fresh cases in the United States breached 100,000 for eight straight days, New York had followed other states in re-implementing tighter social distancing measures on Wednesday.
