US will send $13.6 billion to support Ukraine
A bipartisan decision in the US Congress has decided to increase aid to Ukraine and its allies in Europe to $13.6 billion. The amount of aid has been increased from the $10 billion requested by US President Joe Biden. According to the Associated Press, $4 billion of the total amount of assistance allocated will support two million Ukrainians who were forced to leave their country in connection with the unfolding hostilities after the invasion of Russian troops on Ukrainian soil. To carry out the transfer of military equipment and US troops to the European region, as well as to send military equipment to Ukraine, Congress provided for an amount of $6.7 billion. As Senator Mitch McConnell noted, the aid package agreed between the two American parties also includes funds that can be used as a guarantee for loans to Poland that will help it replace planes scheduled to go to Ukraine.
