U.S. reportedly planning to delay China tariffs

The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that the U.S. was planning to delay its imposing of 15% tariffs (about $160 billion) in Chinese goods that would take effect on December 15.

However, following the reort, White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said that the December 15 tariffs were still “on the table”.

White House adviser Peter Navarro also said that he saw no indication that the tariff hike would be averted.

The news came amid attempts to reach a “phase one” deal, to be agreed upon by Beijing and Washington. U.S. President Donald Trump suggested earlier this month that the deal could wait after the 2020 election, noting that he had “no deadline” to reach an agreement.
