Turkish business ready to replace McDonald’s in Russia
A large Turkish fast-food chain Chitir Chicken has announced that it is ready to completely replace McDonald’s that left Russia. The Izvestiya newspaper has learned that Turkish business owners are already in negotiations with shopping malls in Russia. Bulat Shakirov, who heads the Union of Russian Shopping Centers, said that the successful completion of negotiations would allow dozens of Turkish fast food outlets to be opened in the near future. In addition, it is planned to create a network of franchisees. It will include from 500 to 600 fast-food establishments. Russian shopping centers have already announced that they are ready to provide Turkish businesses with space that was vacated after McDonald’s left the country. The landlords warned the American company about the beginning of the termination of existing lease agreements if it does not resume work in Russia. A source familiar with the situation said that active work is currently underway in the Russian Federation to replace departed companies with new foreign businesses.
