The price of gas in Europe has reached a historical record of 2226$
The data of the stock exchange in London testify to a sharp jump in the price of gas. It set a new all-time high, rising above the $2,200 mark. At 11:58 Moscow time, 1,000 cubic meters of gas was trading at $2,226. For comparison: yesterday the settlement price was 1396 dollars 50 cents. Thus, the cost of 1000 m3 of gas has jumped by almost 60%. Gas prices began to rise after V.V. Putin announced the recognition of the republics in the Donbass and the start of a military operation in Ukraine. In recent days, increased volatility has been observed in the gas market. In general, gas prices went up. Now it is hard to believe that a year ago gas in Europe was trading at a price of 250 to 300 dollars. The cost of gas began to rise in the summer of 2021 amid weak filling of gas storage facilities and a reduction in the volume of supplies. The previous maximum for gas prices was recorded in December. It amounted to 2190 dollars. Experts note that such high gas prices have not been observed in Europe over the past 25 years.
