Japanese Bridgestone announced the suspension of production in Russia
The Japanese company Bridgestone Group, which specializes in the production of tires, has announced the cessation of production in Russia. Its tire plant is located in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk. The company also indicated that it had decided to no longer supply its products to that country. The company has joined a long list of companies around the world that have announced their withdrawal from the Russian market in support of Ukraine’s struggle to liberate itself from the Russian armed forces that have invaded the country and are fighting on its territory. The plant in Russia will be closed on March 18. All Japanese employees of the company who previously worked in Russia will leave the country. Sales of Bridgestone products in the Russian market account for 2% of its total revenue. It is also reported that Bridgestone intends to contribute funds to support Ukrainian refugees to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
