JAL curbs costs; will report on annual loss

On Tuesday, Japan Airlines Co Ltd (JAL) made its first-half loss before interest and a tax of 151.8 billion yen public months ago as it strove to curb costs within the first blow of the pandemic, and had projected that it would be coming out with an annual loss report.

The year before, the Japanese airline company recorded a loss before interest and tax worth 223.9 billion yen in the six months ended Sept. 30.

JAL’s projection stated that it would be reporting a full-year loss before interest and a tax of 198 billion yen, despite previous remarks that the outlook remains murky to be treated as guide.
