European stocks open lower ahead of Fed policy meeting results

European stock markets opened slightly lower on Wednesday, as investors cautiously await the Federal Reserve policy decision.
Germany’s DAX futures fell by 0.1% at 02:05 AM ET (06:05 AM GMT), while France’s CAC futures lost 0.3%. Meanwhile, FTSE futures in the UK lost 1.1%, reversing gains from Tuesday’s session.
The U.S. Federal Reserve’s two-day policy meeting will conclude later in the day at 2 PM ET (1800 GMT), with results on whether the central bank would keep its stance on inflation in August. The policy decision will be followed by a news conference from Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
Equity markets have mostly recovered after last week’s slump with the help of a rally in the tech sector as well as positive data from China and the U.S., the two largest economies in the world.
