Dow remains unchanged amid weak financial shares
The Dow remained mostly unchanged on Tuesday after it struggled to find direction after gains in tech stocks were offset amid weak financial stocks. Market sentiment was further dampened by a resurgence of COVID-19 cases globally as well as a lack of additional fiscal stimulus packages.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average inched up by 0.30% (80 points). Meanwhile, the S&P 500 gained 0.74% and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.20%.
The tech sector saw substantial gains with Amazon.com leading the rally with a 4% gain. Facebook, Alphabet, Apple, and Microsoft also traded higher.
However, financial stocks fell more 1%, with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of America Corp seeing a slump of more than 2%.
