Dollar hovers near one-week low as bond yields retreat
The dollar wallowed near a one-week low on Friday as a calm bond market boosted investor’s appetite for Asian currencies.
The commodity currencies Aussie and kiwi stood near one-week highs hit overnight as inflation fears declined.
The dollar index hovered just above the 91.364 level reached overnight for the first time since Feb. 4. It fell around 0.6% this week after dropping from a three-month high of 92.506 hit on Tuesday.
The Aussie stood at $0.77865, just below the one-week high of $0.7793 hit Thursday. The kiwi bought $0.7223, near a one-week peak of $0.7240 hit overnight.
Against the dollar, the euro stood near a one-week high of $1.1990. The dollar was at 108.60 against the yen after sliding from a nine-month high of 109.235 hit on Tuesday.
