Coronavirus in California, brings U.S. cases to 13

California confirms a case of the nCoV, bringing it to a total of 13 cases in the United States. The person of interest is being held under Federal Quarantine at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), after return from Wuhan, China.

The unnamed patient was also an evacuee from Wuhan, among the estimated 800 U.S. nationals that have been flown from the province. A mandatory 14-day quarantine had been implemented at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, near San Diego, according to the CDC. This is in observance of the imposed quarantines and travel bans with China. The patient was also among the 4 individuals taken to the UC San Diego Medical Center after their arrival at the Miramar air base.

While all tested negative initially, further testing revealed that one had rendered positive of the virus.

For isolation and deeper observation, the patient had been taken to the University of California San Diego Medical Center. Attendants have reported that the person is faring well.

Another patient had also been taken to hospital on Monday from the MCAS, according to sources.

According to the institution, both the patients are doing good and show minimal symptoms.

According to the CDC, “CDC is conducting a thorough contact investigation of the person who has tested positive to determine contacts and to assess if those contacts had high risk exposures,”

Reports have said that from the 8 states with airports that had screened for the virus, 6 had claimed that none had gone under quarantine.
