Asian markets rise amid hopes of calming trade war

Asian stocks rallied up on continued hopes that a cooling in the US-China trade war could be nearing. Investors stayed positive of the highly-anticipated trade talks between the United States and China in the coming weeks. The two countries have been thought to show interest in easing tensions between them.

Advisers of US President Donald Trump have floated the possibility of a small trade deal despite Trump’s statement of wanting a “whole” trade deal with China. They continued that a smaller trade deal could allow the two sides to resolve much easier issues before moving on to bigger ones for later talks.

The two countries are expected to meet again soon for face-to-face talks in Washington as investors watch on for the prospect of more stimulus from central banks.
