Amazon hires another 100,000 employees this year

On Monday, Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN.O) said that it would recruit another 100,000 workers to keep pace with the online shopping demand that jumped amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Seattle-based e-commerce company said that it would be the fourth hiring spree that was announced in the United States this year.

According to Amazon, the positions were available for full and part-time work in Washington and Canada.

The world’s biggest online retailer said that it would include new roles at its one hundred warehouses and operations sites that would be opening this month.

Amazon employed 876,800 people as of June 30, excluding contractors and temporary personnel.

“We will continue to deploy technology where appropriate, starting from a safety perspective” and “where we can improve our overall operation,” Amazon’s Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment Alicia Boler Davis said in an interview with the press.
